About Money4YOU

We teach people how to make money, help organisations to raise funds and support everyone to make the most of their resources.

Our Journey

Money4YOU, formerly Money4Youth, is a UK based Charitable Incorporated Organisation founded in 2014 by Carol Akiwumi. Our pilot programmes were funded by Barnet Innovation bank and kicked off as a six week lunchtime club for Year 5 pupils at Dollis Junior School, NW7. Following this, we ran a two week Financial Literacy session with Year 12 students at Copthall Secondary school, NW7 who we also coached to deliver a session to Year 7 students at the school. Since then, we have delivered financial literacy classes to more than 2,500 young people in schools and community groups in the UK, Rwanda, Nigeria, Liberia and Zambia.

Our other activities include

AVOCADO+, the UK’s only Accelerator program for BAMER (black, Asian, multi-ethnic and refugee) led charities and social enterprises.

The AVOCADO Incubator programme, a wholistic incubator programme designed to kickstart and bootstrap small businesses led by entrepreneurs in underprivileged communities and developing nations.

Financial literacy and entrepreneurship workshops and resources for children and young people.

This is an annual, intensive and innovative programme, designed to improve their Sustainability, Fundraising Capabilities and Leadership. Qualifying groups receive monthly intensive training, capacity building and bespoke support, which enables them to achieve sustainable growth and to successfully raise funds for their work. Carried out by consultants experienced in working with BAMER groups, it also delivers a mix of coaching, mentoring and networking interventions in the areas of governance, finance and income diversification.

Our Vision

A world where disadvantaged and marginalised communities thrive because individuals and organisations that serve them have access to financial management education and the confidence to engage in enterprise.

Our Mission

Money4YOU exists to tackle inequality by teaching people how to make the most of their resources as well as equip people and organisations with tools for stewardship, financial sustainability and entrepreneurship.

Our work places a strong emphasis on young people, women and disadvantaged communities. Through our activities, we light fires that equip and inspire people to be the architects of their own (lasting) change.

Our ACE Values

Money4You operates in an open, honest and transparent manner with everyone we work with. We set high service standards and hold ourselves accountable for the quality of our work and the results we achieve.

We apply flexible methods that engage, inspire and motivate those we teach in an environment that fosters innovation and forward thinking. By focusing on their specific needs, we provide tailored solutions that are developed in collaboration with our stakeholders. This provides authentic and enriched learning experiences for learners, fosters new ways of thinking about their own practices and enlightens them about resources, potential pathways and opportunities.

Excellent, Ethical and Evidence-based Empowerment

In a rapidly changing world, our interventions start with a clear, accurate and deep understanding of the needs of our beneficiaries. With this insight, Money4You is committed to collaboratively developing and implementing high quality solutions. These are differentiated and impactful enough to ensure that they do not create dependence but instead enables them to be co-owners and true partners of every intervention.
